Looking at all those unfinished circles on my daily to-do list, I felt like the week had passed by without leaving me any particularly memorable moments.
I wasn’t getting up early during the past week. To be honest, I even turned off my 5:30 a.m. alarm for the entire week. I don’t know why, but I just felt like resting and doing nothing. At first, I felt a little guilty about it. I am so used to moving, exploring, and accomplishing things that slowing down almost felt unnatural.
But even during those seemingly stagnant moments, I still experienced the usual ups and downs of life. Here, I’d like to share one high note and one low note, as always.
The Unexpected Joy of Doing Nothing
The high note of the week was that I found a TV show and finished the entire series in one day. I don’t watch TV very often, and lately, I haven’t even been watching movies. But last Sunday, I felt an uncontrollable urge to stay in bed all day and do nothing.
It was raining outside, and the whole day felt slow and quiet. So I decided to permit myself to simply rest. And surprisingly, it felt wonderful.
The show was great. I immersed myself in that ancient story, laughing and crying with the characters. At the same time, I found myself wondering when I would be able to write a story that many people could enjoy reading or watching.
Sunday was peaceful and cozy in its laziness. I prepared plenty of food and snacks for myself and enjoyed the life of a couch potato. It had been such a long time since I allowed myself to do that. I am usually a very active person. When the weather is good, I just can’t help but want to spend time outdoors a hundred times a day.
Maybe that’s why this quiet day felt so special. It was not the life I usually choose, but it was exactly what I needed at that moment.
Thanks to the endless rain that kept me indoors, I rediscovered the joy of simply being. I felt happy being immersed in someone else’s story, surrounded by the soft, sweet fragrance filling my room.
Outside, the rain was pouring. Inside, the air was dry, and everything felt clean and warm.
It was such a simple happiness, but even now, when I think back to that day, I can still feel the comfort it gave me.

A Small Disappointment from Someone I Trusted
Enough of the high note. Now it’s time for the low note.
One of the strings of my ukulele broke. But honestly, it wasn’t really about the broken string. It was about the seller who sold me the ukulele. They promised to deliver replacement strings every six months, but they had never done so before. When I contacted them about getting a new pair, they asked for so much unnecessary information, which made the whole process frustrating.
I was really disappointed by their after-sales service. What upset me most was not the inconvenience itself, but the feeling of being treated like just another transaction.
I had been a loyal customer. I had recommended their products and services to many of my friends. So it was disappointing to see a brand I trusted fail in a way that could have easily been avoided.
I don’t like companies that only see customers as money. Due to this experience, I will likely stop purchasing their products or services in the future.
Letting Time Move Forward
All in all, the past is the past. Not only the lows, but also the highs.
No one can retrieve a single moment that has already passed. Reflecting on this always reminds me of how precious time is and how valuable the present moment is.
Maybe a lazy week is not a wasted week. Maybe resting is also a way of moving forward. After a week of slowing down, I feel fully recharged and ready for the new week ahead.
Until next time.
