5:30 AM Club – Getting Up Early Challenge

New Experiment with Life

The wind by the pool feels so amazing right now. I’ve been thinking about getting up early for a while and set my 5:30 AM alarm for every morning two days ago. On the third day today, I finally got up after hitting snooze once—at about 5:40 AM. I did a five-minute meditation after dressing up for a run and went running early for the first time in a while, in a foreign city.

“Foreign” is a word that keeps hitting my mind and slipping out of my lips recently, probably because I am all alone in a foreign country I guess.

Everybody agrees that when we’re on a trip, there’s a high chance our daily routine will get messed up. Today is my 15th day of travel while working. I promised myself to do more solo trips, and I can’t say I’m crazily in love with the idea yet. I haven’t traveled much in the past decades of my life. First of all, the idea of traveling never really cracked into my simple, dozed-off mind. And since graduating, I’ve been working 9-to-6 for one company or another.

In 2023, I started building my own business with two others. I can’t say I had everything figured out back then, but I knew I wanted more freedom with my life. So I took the chance—and the risk—to start a digital marketing studio with two like-minded business connections. I can’t say we were friends, since, as it turned out, the business didn’t work out. People think and want different stuff.

Then, in July 2024 last year, I registered my own company and became fully self-employed. Thanks to that failed experience and some reliable working connections, I managed to push my small business forward bit by bit. And here I am, travel-working by the beach side for two months every year. I love a stable life with my loved belongings with me. That’s why I think two months are enough.

Get up at 5:30 AM

Getting back to the 5:30 AM get-up challenge—I’m on and off with my lark personality. There are periods when I get up before 6 AM and go running, but with the flexibility I have in my work, I’ve skipped early mornings quite a lot. And I started noticing that I was missing out on all my mornings. I was turning into a night owl, and I didn’t quite like that.

The other day, when I was wandering around a bookstore, a book caught my attention—The 5 AM Club. Of course, I knew about this book before, but I had never actually read it. I didn’t end up buying it (but that’s another story). Still, at that moment, the thought of reclaiming my mornings hit me again. Plus, with all the turbulence from solo traveling bugging my nervous system, I needed a clearer, stronger, and more structured morning in my life.

Glad I did it for the first day today! And the feeling was AMAZING!!!

I went running, walked by the beach, enjoyed a slow breakfast—everything felt so good.

What’s more, as I started, I got more ideas and motivation for my life and business. I want to try more with my blog site and post five times a week. I don’t quite know what topics I’d love to cover yet, but trust me—I have so much to share.

Your life can be as fun as you make it. Just keep yourself moving forward!

I need to set a primary plan for my blog posts, but I’m not overwhelmed. I’ll start with my 5:30 AM challenge and my hobbies—running and working out.

Are you bored with your life somehow? Trying to break or form a habit? Or do you just love reading and writing as much as I do?
