When winter hits, how do we stay motivated and productive? Honestly, I can’t. I really can’t. Sometimes I wish people could just hibernate like animals do. So instead of trying to force motivation, I’m just going to slip into a winter daydream with you all and imagine what an ideal winter would feel like.
1. No work
In my perfect winter daydream, there’s absolutely no work. Everyone just takes a long holiday with no cold winds, no commuting, no forcing yourself out the door. You simply stay indoors as long as you want, wrapped up and unbothered.
2. Plenty of books
For this winter daydream, there would always be books. I’m reading Eat, Pray, Love right now, and I’m on the India part. Honestly, I liked the Italy section better — the sunshine and warmth in those pages somehow warmed my heart too. I hope to reach the Indonesia part soon. In an ideal winter, there’s warm tea and a stack of books right within reach.

3. A loved one in bed
My winter daydream definitely has this. I don’t have a loved one beside me right now, but I hope you do. I’ve been dreaming about my boyfriend a lot these days, but he’s nowhere near me. That’s when I hate the distance more than the cold. Coldness passes eventually, but distance just sits there and refuses to melt.
4. Sleeping whenever you want
In my winter daydream, sleep comes whenever it wants, and you let it. Cold weather makes me so sleepy. Being able to sleep more feels like a blessing, especially when so many people have trouble resting these days.
5. Good food
Lately I’ve been eating chips and cookies with my brown tea as the weather cools down. So in my winter daydream, there’s always cozy, comforting food — and the freedom to eat whatever you like without worrying about anything.
6. No worries
This part is hard. Maybe only kids can live that way. My nephew just learned to bike, and now he rides the same neighborhood road every day with pure excitement. Why can’t adults just rest in bed without a thousand worries? Growing up really does suck sometimes.
So what about you? What’s your winter daydream like? Some cities already have snow. I haven’t seen snow in such a long time — my city is in the south, so winters aren’t that cold. Maybe that’s why I keep longing for an ideal winter spent with someone. I want that so badly. A real shared winter daydream.
