Period week can be so very upsetting and annoying. Even if you know it’s the hormones manipulating your feelings, those feelings still hurt. The past week wasn’t very productive; I have to say. I completely lost any motivation for my drum or ukulele practicing. Music always makes me happy, but not always during my period. Since we all want to boost Period Week Productivity, here are some of my little experiments.
Small Wins During a Challenging Week
The good thing is I did get up each day in the morning to journal and had breakfast. I think the latest day for the week where I got up very late was on Saturday. I got up at almost 9 a.m. in the morning. But the rest of the week, though I felt unmotivated, I still managed to do the prior tasks I planned for each day.

Whenever I feel unmotivated, I feel like reading in bed all day. That’s a great habit formed throughout those years. I used to, like most people when they rest, scroll phones and watch shows all day. But I didn’t do that much recently at all. I bought myself all the many books I want. And the feeling of being surrounded by all those beautiful books I love is truly amazing.

Embracing the Three Pillars
I have to say, the “Three Pillars” for life was a genius idea I ever had for myself. Since no matter what happened, there seems always one pillar that’s standing there. My world won’t collapse that easily as before. I remember those dark days in my early years where I was so confused with my life and seemed always to run into a dead-end hole in life, feeling desperate and hopeless. But ever since I tried to structure my life into three main pillars, which are books, miles, and matters of the heart, those pillars contained all the exciting things for me and support my life moving on. My life is getting less chaotic. And I seem always to be able to do something practical than lost in the devastated emotion sea.
Achievements and Forward Momentum
I finished my four books reading for May. Yeah, that’s pretty impressive. There were days where I didn’t feel like reading at all. But on average, good days are more than bad ones. I enjoyed the process and also got to the destination. That’s a great feeling.
For the “miles” pillar, my recent focus is on my coming August marathon training. I did as I scheduled to run three times per week and gradually added up more miles each week. So far, I was on schedule, and my speed is improving. That’s great. I’m satisfied with this pillar as always. I’m doing great. I’m moving myself around. I think that’s helping me to have a positive mentality as well.
Matters of the Heart
On matters of the heart, still a bit messy since my personal business and some other projects just take too much effort. And it’s just a lot of them to try to get into order. I need more time, I think. But I’m not panicked much. I mean, I was worried since there are no solid results yet. But I’m pretty sure I’m striding in the right direction. So I’ll be there eventually, becoming a version of myself, a new self with more power and resilience.
