Week 51 of 2024: It’s Not A Goodbye Yet

I think I finally got back from the recent breakdown completely. Life is always full of ups and downs. Where there is a peak moment, there’s always a sliding down period afterwards. What we need to do is always be grateful and keep the happy mood to bounce back to another high.

Life was pretty chill; except for working a lot, I did my movement every day. Not training long runs. makes running much more fun. Running a 5 km or 10 km felt so much different and easier ever since I ran that brutal 30 km last week.

I. New Year, New Expectation

I’m pretty happy with my overall resolution to live up to. I have been reading more since I do want to finish my goal of reading 50 books per year. I see what messed up with my plan was that I didn’t keep the consistency in reading this year. That’s a great lesson learned, and I’m going to work on that in 2025.

Being very excited for the new year. Also, I don’t want to idle away December. I love December. Good news! I’m finally practicing Back to December for my drum class. I’ve been doing pretty well in learning a new skill.

Recently I didn’t go to practice as much as I did in the beginning. I see that’s a natural pattern. When you started doing something, you put more effort into it. But gradually you forgot why you started in the first place. That’s exactly why I decided to track my New Year’s Resolution weekly. I think by getting back to the very start constantly. You review the progress & boost your own confidence.

II. Many on My Heart, But Live with Few at a Time

I feel blessed that there’s still a lot of stuff I want to do in this life. I see that by doing the right things that your heart is determined to do and doing them consistently, you could make lots of changes.

I don’t go to parties. I don’t scroll my phone much. I talk to those I love. I write letters and postcards to those I care about. Keep only a small group of people, and most of the time surrounded by books & music. I feel peaceful. I can feel the positive energy flow, not because I’m wearing beautiful clothes or because I’m that lucky dog, but because I’m living in the moment.

III. Love December, but Calendar is Not the Rule of Fact

I don’t quite want to say goodbye to 2024 yet, but I see if I break out from the traditional time sphere. Live one day at a time. I can live my life more freely without many inner contradictions. Will you be that free guy in your life story?

IV. Books of The Year End: Stay Positive and Thrive

One of the best ways to wrap up the year is with a meaningful read. If I had to pick one book for a reflective year-end read, it would be Oscar and the Lady in Pink. It’s a deeply moving story about a strong yet mature little boy battling cancer and his unforgettable bond with a hospital nanny. We will all, in the end, face the inevitable, just as time fades away with each passing day. But the ending doesn’t always have to be sentimental. 2024 ends here, but we have our new chapters ahead.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all! Wish we could all be more content with life and hang along with ourselves and treasure our time and energy to the utmost.
