Week 33 of 2026: A Quiet Week, A Scary Book, and Learning to Slow Down

The past week was pretty decent. Nothing big happened, which can also mean life was pretty peaceful.

I wasn’t writing much, though. I kept telling myself I should write more. I guess I’m going through a bit of writer’s block, so I spent more time reading instead.

A Scary Book on Rainy Days

I was immersed in Stephen King’s The Shining for most of the past week. I believe books can be less scary than horror movies because the words unfold more slowly, and without the background music, I don’t get startled by the scenes as much. I haven’t watched the movie because it feels way too scary for me.

This was probably one of my first horror-reading experiences, and I would say it was definitely the highlight of my last week.

Reading freely on rainy days is a true blessing. There is something really nice about having nowhere to go, sitting with a book, and letting yourself get completely lost in it. Though, to be honest, some random noises would scare me a little while I was reading. I guess that’s one thing about reading horror: your imagination does most of the work.

The overall reading experience was unique and fulfilling. I love how I genuinely love books and can pretty much get whatever book I want. Sometimes I think that’s something I should appreciate more.

Making Peace with Sick Days

Speaking of the low note, it was about the little health issues my body was dealing with. I’m generally pretty healthy, but around my period, my immune system seems to take a hit, and I tend to feel a little under the weather.

Every time I feel sick, I tend to lose motivation and slip into a low mood. I don’t really like seeing that version of myself, feeling so weak. But I’m slowly learning that I don’t have to fight it every time. I can simply accept that version of myself and make peace with the sick days.

After all, maybe a slow day isn’t necessarily a bad day. It gives me a chance to actually take better care of my body and mind when I’m not feeling well.

I guess that was the lesson of this week: life doesn’t always have to be productive to be meaningful. Sometimes it’s just about reading a scary book on a rainy day, letting your body rest, and being okay with doing a little less.

Time is precious. Cherish it, keep documenting, and love more of life. Until next week~

  1. Great memories documented.
